by a big cold front and area of low pressure across the united states. it will become a huge extra tropical storm, a hybrid storm, like a anothnor'easter with hure characteristics and then tuesday through new england and mid-atlantic. looks like a devastating storm. wind of hurricane, rain, cold air, even snow. i'll break down those details when i come up. >>> to politics now with a less than 300 hours until election day the candidates are campaigning hard in several key states. according to a new "time" magazine poll from battleground ohio it's paying off for president obama. in a survey taken earlier this week of likely and early ohio voters, the president leads governor romney with 49% to 44%. last night katy perry fired up the crowd before the president took the stage in las vegas where he pushed his message and credit sites romney's as backward looking. mitt romney was in iowa with attacks on the president's economic agenda. >> they have been unable to lay out an agenda for what they're going to do to help america. they've been unable to defend and describe what they do to get our econ

concerns. we have one large storm off the east coast of the united states. it's going to keep us cloudy and cool all the way from the carolinas northward up through new england. then another big storm up here in the northern plains. this is a reinforcing shot of cold air, not what we needed. it is coming down. you can see the spin up here. a little rain and snow mix on the canadian border there with north dakota. that cold front went through minneapolis and pushing through wisconsin. numerous showers right now from green bay. eventually they'll sweep to milwaukee. later today, showers in chicago. how cold is the air behind this front? not horribly cold. temperatures in the 40s, 50s, we're in the 30s in the northern plains. when you factor in the wind chill, yes, it's that time of year to start talking wind chill, imagine at the bus stop this morning with a 24. rapid city is at 28. it's cold. they need the winter coats gloves and hats. as far as showers go, the i-95 corridor, a few from richmond to washington, d.c. townsend, maryland and baltimore area and philadelphia heading up the jer

down to washington, d.c. some of the most populated areas in the united states. not where you want it heading. it's not going to be like a typical cone where the center is the concern, but a big, broad storm that even up in boston, they'll have problems with waves and surge. these all target the mi mid-atlantic. >> still a few days away, bill, thanks. >>> as the election race enters the final stretch, one new poll shows mitt romney with an edge over president obama. according to a new abc news "washington post" poll 50% of likely voters now support governor romney versus 47% who favor the president. yesterday the president wrapped up a two-day campaign blitz with a stop in chicago. he cast his early ballot. this is a first for a presidential nominee. and yesterday in accordance with early voting laws, e he did have to show his i.d. mitt romney made three stops in ohio on thursday. he told voters this campaign is about families and said his main goal is getting people back to work. >> i want regulators to see their job as encouraging business, not attacking business. i want more job

. it takes up literally a quarter to a third of the united states. it is still moving west. it is going to be over the top of pittsburgh shortly. how rare is that? >> unbelievable what we're seeing from this storm. it continues. thank you so much, bill karins. in new york, 1.8 million people without power. and some of the worst flooding, the worst power outages are along long island. on the phone now, long island congressman tim pitch open. good morni tim bishop. >> good morning. >> what can you tell us? >> well, it's very devastating. and, you know, it's 5:00 in the morning am i'm not sure how much current information i have. but as of last night, there was significant coastal flooding and coastal erosion. there was significant flooding in port jefferson and downtown riverhead was particularly badly hit. greenport was underwater. the area of the north shore was particularly hard hit. so we have some very serious flooding problems. and as of about 8:00 last night, 600,000 home on long island were out of power. hundreds of trees down. power lines down. you know, utility poles down. this
